Introduction:The Honda International Center Global Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and directing global engagement activities of the College, including coordinating with the UH systemwide internationalization efforts and UHCC International Education Council; recruitment of international students; developing experiential learning opportunities for global awareness for students, staff, and faculty; assistance for immigration services inbound and outbound; comply with federal and state laws, regulations and reporting requirements, and implement sound practices for both the system and campus levels. This position reports to the Chancellor and coordinates with stakeholders from other campuses within the UH System. Duties and Responsibilities:(NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions)
**Leads the campus Honda International Center initiatives that increase the global connectedness and stature of Kapi?olani Community College across organizational, national and cultural boundaries. **Establishes and maintaining relationships with potential donors for global engagement programs**Oversees and leads the staff that manages student transitional services of the Honda International Center which includes but is not limited to, housing resources, transcript translation and evaluation, SEVIS, and Homeland Security advising for International students.**Coordinates immigration services for students, provision of experiential learning opportunities at national and international levels, and assisting with the development and review of international collaborations in teaching, academic engagement, and student exchanges. **Serves as advisor to the Chancellor on related matters and represents the College on systemwide international committees. **Serves as liaison with the UH Community College International Education Council**Develops policies and procedures necessary for development of international programs, comply with federal and state laws, regulations and reporting requirements, and implement sound practices for both the system and campus levels. **Leads the integration and infusion of global perspective and engagement throughout the College in teaching, research and service initiatives, partnering with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) building intercultural competence, endeavors, and on multi-disciplinary and innovative approaches. **Leads the development of campus-wide strategies and appropriate policy for global engagement and internationalization.**Provides central expertise and strategic support on international matters.**Collaborates with the Executive Leadership Team on cultivating research, professional development, and experiential learning abroad for students, faculty, and staff. Builds and nurtures new relationships and networking mechanisms with alumni and other constituencies (including international groups). **Facilitates the collaboration and communication with student immigration services to oversee the review and appropriate support for petition, certification and/or visa matters for students. Facilitates and coordinates campus-wide training and education on international matters.Manages the overall marketing plans for increasing the number of degree-seeking non-immigrant and immigrant students at the College.Manages and maintains the international student enrollment management system.**Keeps abreast of rules and regulations, policies and procedures governing immigration.**Develops innovative strategies to secure external funding to support and enhance the study abroad programs and sustain international programs.**Ensures that study abroad programs align with the College’s academic programs goals and initiatives.Measures the enrollment and recruitment data to determine the cost effectiveness and overall efficiency of current recruitment strategies of International students.Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, International Studies, Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, or related fields and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for planning, coordinating and managing global programs including national or international initiatives and programs, or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of managing global programs including national or international initiatives and programs as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with national and international partnerships.Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing softwaresuch as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and other commonly used software.Demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.Ability to travel nationally and internationally to represent the College, and University Hawai?i Community Colleges, in all areas of global engagementDemonstrated leadership experience in managing/directing international program(s) at the university, national, and/or international level
