With a brand new state-of-the art campus under construction in the Pinewood neighborhood of Miami, JLA will begin accepting student applications for grades 6, 7, 9 and 10 in the Fall of 2022 for the academic year 2023-2024.

SCIENCE DEPARTMENT ____________________________________________________
The Science Department at JLA provides students with a sequence of deep and rich curricular core classes and electives. The goal of our program is to develop an appreciation of learning and ignite curiosity and critical thinking.
The Middle School offers honors and advanced high-school classes:
Electives include honors high school-level classes within biology, chemistry, and physics.
The Upper School core curriculum offers honors and advanced college-level classes:
Electives include advanced college-level classes within biology, chemistry, and physics.
JLA’s multifaceted pedagogical approach uses a blend of Socratic discussions, design thinking, inquiry-based learning, guided experimentation, and project-based learning. Laboratory demonstrations and paced-protocol experiments are embedded in every course. Advanced-level classes emphasize open-ended experimentation, inquiry, case analyses, and mentor-guided innovative research.
RESPONSIBILITIES _________________________________________________________
Full-time employment for faculty teaching positions will commence in August 2023. Responsibilities will include:
QUALIFICATIONS _________________________________________________________
Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the middle/upper school level, as well as a strong foundation in classroom pedagogy. He/She must have an undergraduate degree in a related field, though advanced degrees are preferred. Experience working with gifted and talented students is an asset.
