Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution
· Three years’ experience coaching and/or playing Soccer
· Prior College/University coaching experience preferred CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain certification required
· Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured to drive college vehicles required.
· Knowledge of and ability to follow University policies and procedures
· Knowledge of intercollegiate soccer program
· Knowledge of and skill in use of computers and software applications, specifically Microsoft Office
· Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
· Ability to relate to a diverse population in a professional and helpful manner
· Ability to organize, prioritize and follow multiple projects and tasks to completion
· Ability to promote a positive atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation both within the University and the community
· Ability to effectively supervise the work of others
· Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems while maintaining confidentiality
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public

Role and Responsibilities
· Assists the Soccer Head Coach with day-to-day activities associated with the program including, but not limited to, recruitment, on-the-floor coaching, video work, and community involvement;
· Provides leadership for all aspects of the men’s basketball program to ensure a highly competitive and successful program;
· Supports the academic mission of the College and demonstrates a strong commitment to the retention, academic success, and graduation of student-athletes;
· Assists with student-athlete eligibility certification and completion of forms and medical exams, and provide NAIA reports to the Compliance Office as required;
· Maintains current knowledge and abides by NAIA and RRAC rules, policies, and procedures.
· Serves as a role model to mentor team members to develop and display appropriate behavior and sportsmanship expected of athletic teams and individuals representing JCC;
· Observes athletes during practice and competition to identify opportunities for individual or team improvement;
· Teaches players specific tasks and skills before, during, and after practice;
· Schedules contests and reviews films of other teams;
· Supports and monitors academic performance and social development of the student athletes;
· Assists with recruitment of new student-athletes including, but not limited to, attends off-campus games for the purpose of contact and evaluation, manages recruitment material mailings, maintains contact and plans campus visits with prospective student athletes;
· Coordinates all enrollment activities of soccer student-athletes;
· Participates in athletic development and fundraising activities for athletics programs;
· Supports leadership development, team development, and community service;
· Provides quality coaching and instruction to students participating in the soccer program;
· Attends scheduled soccer practices and competitions;
· Provides ongoing oversight of student athlete’s conduct both on and off the field;
· Assists with conflict resolution;
· Reviews institutional policy on accident reporting and insurance procedures;
· Assists coach in ensuring that all students and prospects have had physicals;
· Assists in instructing team managers on proper care, maintenance of supplies, equipment, and facilities;
· Attends assigned college, department, and division meetings as required;
· Assists with monitoring inventory, selection, care and maintenance of supplies and equipment;
· Assists in recruiting student-athletes who can achieve academic and athletic success; and assists student athletes in realizing individual and team goals;
· Assists with the development of positive interpersonal relationships including campus integration with other students and faculty;
· Enforces safety regulations and procedures through supervision of students involved in the program;
· Stays abreast of rule changes in the sport; and
· Performs other duties as needed
