Position Summary
The Indiana
University School of Optometry, a leader in clinical education, patient care, and research, is seeking a skilled clinician to join the
Clinical Optics Research Lab (CORL). Applicants are invited to apply for this research associate/scientist, non-tenure track position with a
proposed start date of spring/summer of 2024. The Clinical Optics Research Lab (https://blogs.iu.edu/corl/) is a high-achieving (~$2.5 million in research funding in
2023) team-oriented group of roughly 20 researchers (faculty and students) who work with industry partners and other collaborators/
organizations around the world in both basic science and clinical studies designed to improve the visual quality of patients who are
experiencing a variety of optical conditions, such as the development of myopia, presbyopia, eye fatigue, cataract, and ocular surface
disease. Much of the research work is collaborative, patient-based, and centers around optimization of optical devices and technologies,
such as contact lenses. Opportunities for didactic, lab, and/or patient care/clinical teaching may also be possible depending on needs and
qualifications.
Indiana University is a major research University founded in 1820. It currently enrolls over 38,000 undergraduates
and 10,000 graduate and professional students on the Bloomington campus with over 114,000 students in the University system. The School of
Optometry has well-established professional degree and clinical programs, as well as widely recognized research and graduate programs. The
School has two teaching clinics as well as a variety of externship and residency affiliations. Indiana University has an active commitment

Basic Qualifications
The successful candidate should have an OD (or equivalent) degree, be eligible for
an Indiana optometric license, have a curiosity in research, and attention to detail. Completion of an accredited residency program,
graduate degree in vision science or a related field, or equivalent experience is ideal, but not required. Salary and rank will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience.
