Job Summary
The School of Communication at Illinois State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Communication Studies, whose research focuses on organizational communication (with particular interest to applicants focusing on issues of leadership, training & development, and/or research methods) with additional interests to complement the School’s current competencies. Our salary for this position is highly competitive.

The School of Communication serves over 700 undergraduates and nearly 60 graduate students, offering degrees in Communication Studies, Journalism, Mass Media, and Public Relations (CEPR accredited program) along with a top-rated master’s degree in Communication. The School has research and graphics computer labs, a Communication Innovation Center (CIC) and a Social Media Analytics Command Center (SMACC), the nationally recognized WZND LPFM 103.3 (student radio), and high-definition television station (TV-10) with daily live newscasts. A variety of active student co-curricular organizations are promoted, including Lambda Pi Eta, Black Communication Association, a nationally ranked forensics program, Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Association for Women in Communications, Student Television Workshop, Foxtail Film Festival, and the Documentary Project. The School is also home to The Vidette, a top-ten student newspaper.

Required Qualifications
1) A doctorate is required for this position. A Ph.D. or an Ed.D. in the area of communication studies, organizational communication, or a closely related field will be considered for this position. ABD will be considered, if degree will be completed by December 2024.
2) Candidates should be able to explain their experience with teaching theory, practice, and/or methods germane to the position advertised here at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
3) Have an emerging or established research record relevant to the communication field generally and any specific subject area of the position advertised here.
4) State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for teaching positions.
