Adjunct Instructor – Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography HV-ADJ-RAD-F23
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s Degree in an allied health field or other discipline relevant to the program; possess a credential in the field of adult echocardiography through the ARDMS (or national equivalent); have a minimum total of five years of experience in the field of echocardiography, either as a practicing sonographer or as an instructor in echocardiography, or a combination of both, within the past ten years; experience in curriculum and/or program development.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Adjunct faculty – Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography reports to the Department Chairperson of Medical Imaging and performs the following duties:
• Must maintain current knowledge of professional specialty and educational methodology through continuing professional development.
• Will formulate and adhere to program entrance requirements.
• Develop course outlines according to the college policy which incorporate the content specified by the ARDMS.
• Evaluate clinical education effectiveness through regular site visits to clinical education centers and student competency assessments.
• Instruct courses associated with the program in accordance to college policies.
• Maintaining effective liaison between the college and the clinical site.
• Communicate clinical or student issues to the Program Director or Department Chairperson whenever necessary.
• Conduct conferences with the students on clinical matters, responsibilities, and problems.
• Observe and evaluate the student in the clinical setting. Provide instruction and remediation when necessary.
• Conferring with the clinical site staff on student problems.
• Encouraging conferences between staff and the student to increase the effectiveness of the clinical education.
• Acting as a resource by suggesting additional material that can be used to enhance the clinical education.
• Conferring with the clinical instructor throughout the semester regarding the evaluation of the students.
• Participate in programmatic accreditation with the joint review committee on education in diagnostic medical sonography.
At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract.
The Salary is $1,340.00 per contact hour.
