Graphics and Printing Technical SpecialistHV-CS-62923 In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not sponsor Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check. Albany, Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington County residency is required. Applicants are being accepted from current Hudson Valley Community College or the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center Employees This is a provisional appointment. Selected candidate will need to sit, pass and be eligible on the next available Rensselaer County Civil Service Exam for Graphics and Printing Specialist in order to be considered for permanent appointment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Commercial Arts, Graphics Design, or closely related field and two (2) years full time paid experience in graphics, commercial art, photography or related field (OR) four (4) years of full-time paid experience in graphics, commercial art, photography or related field (OR) an equivalent combination and experience as defined by the limits above. Graphic design and edit layouts including:• Design of documents using current software (Adobe Creative Suite, etc)• Edit existing documents on Graphics file server• Edit/redesign submitted MS Office documents for print • Search for digital photos, take digital photos, scan photos into digital format, alter digital file to document specifications• Determine best method for output and troubleshoot general printing issues as needed• Serve as liaison between Graphics staff and college departments for proofing review• Create campus signage using current software and production tools Maintains Print Shop work order system including:• Update the paper stocks and pricing biannually• Maintain budget codes for billing purposes• Assist users with registration process and monitor user approvals• Provide help desk support for users as needed• Facilitate training sessions for campus users 1-2x per year• Create, produce and reconcile reports for billing• Update user interface options as needed Performs general office duties including:• Answer phones• Receive and distribute mail• Order and stock office supplies• Oversees Work Study Students, College Workers, and InternsPerforms other related duties as assigned by the Director There is one position available with an hourly rate of $21.32.
