Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Communications Specialist HV-NTP-101723 I. Qualifications for EmploymentA. Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or related field. One year experience in customer/student service, education and/or marketing. Relevant experience in project management, journalism, writing, communications or marketing. II. Nature and Scope of DutiesThe Communications Specialist reports to the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing or designee and performs the following duties: • Works with colleagues in Communications and Marketing, Creative Services and Video and Multimedia Services to support promotional activities of the college. • Assists with content development of college publications, including writing and editing stories. • Drafts and edits news releases, speeches, talking points, video scripts, web pages, advertisements and other collateral materials. • Develops copy and edits internal and external newsletters, publications and marketing materials. • Drafts media pitches and supports media-related events and activities. • Contributes to social media and web content management, strategy and execution. • Assists with academic, administrative and student services communication and marketing efforts. • Executes research to support college communciations and marketing endeavors. • Assists with office management, meetings, procurement, and provides assistance to other departments and college partners. • Performs other duties as assigned. This is a full-time 37.5 hour work week position with a salary range of $44,000.00 – $46,000.00 Hudson Valley offers a full benefit package including Health Insurance, Dental and Eye Insurance, Retirement, employee and employee’s spouse and children free tuition waivers.
