The Division of Business and Community Services at Holyoke Community College is seeking an instructor to teach Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding to students who recently completed the Pharmacy Technician I training and have received their PTCB certification. This program is run in conjunction with local area employers, preparing students to meet the needs of our employer partners, in the hospital pharmacy setting. The instructors will need to become familiar with current state and federal regulations and will have to keep accurate attendance, grade, and skills information. At least two years’ experience as teaching and performing sterile and non-sterile compounding functions in the lab is strongly recommended. This position is not remote. It involves teaching face-to-face in a lab setting on Saturdays and/or evenings.

The instructor will utilize active learning methods and use a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course. Such activities can include but are not limited to: a.) Cooperative learning. b.) Experiential learning, c.) Writing for learning and/or Critical thinking initiatives.The instructor will arrange for the acquisition and preparation of appropriate materials and equipment in a timely manner necessary to meet course objectives in collaboration with the program coordinator.Instructors are expected to be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data including assessment of student performance, including final grade reports.Instructors are expected to be supportive of students’ learning goals by: a.) Focusing on student learning outcomes b.) Taking into account the needs and abilities of the students c.) Becoming familiar with academic and social support.Instructors are expected to make reasonable provisions to accommodate individual differences.Instructors are expected to maintain the academic integrity of the college.Instructors are expected to work collaboratively with other team members (e.g. advisors and Training Manager) and employer partners toward student success and employee advancement.Instructors are expected to make himself/herself available to assist students in achieving their learning goals.Instructors are expected to attend all scheduled classes. If it is necessary for the adjunct faculty member to miss a class, he/she will follow appropriate procedures by notifying the supervisor or the supervisor’s designee and is responsible by providing an alternate assignment.
