Guilford College Looking for Director of Alumni Relations and Engagement Full Time

Guilford College, in Greensboro, NC, seeks an innovative, ambitious leader to serve as its next Director of Alumni Relations and
Engagement. Partnering with internal and external constituents, the ideal candidate will build on the College’s exceptionally strong
foundation by collaborating with outstanding alumni, faculty, staff, and students to shape Guilford’s next chapter and secure its
place as a leader in liberal arts education. The Director of Alumni Relations and Engagement will provide strategic and visionary leadership
to the Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations, and be a critical member of the Vice President’s senior team, working
across the institution to maintain an unbreakable link from the classroom to commencement and through a graduate’s life journey while
building the desire for philanthropic engagement.

Guilford College is a private, coed, residential liberal arts college
recognized for being one of the few distinguished colleges included in Colleges that Change Lives for more than 20 years.
Founded in 1837 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) as a boarding school, Guilford enrolls approximately 1,400 students, from 36
states and 12 countries, with 39 major fields, 50 minor fields and 3 Graduate programs. Among the nation’s small liberal arts
colleges, Guilford is viewed as one of the “Best 384 Colleges” and “Best Southeastern Colleges” according to
the Princeton Review. This is a highly externally facing role and the Director will serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for
the College and as the primary alumni representative across the broader Guilford community. The Director will be a forward-thinking
individual experienced in developing, motivating and leading a new team that is to be hired. The Director will provide the guidance and
support necessary to promote and nurture relationships among the College, its alumni and other external constituents.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive
  strategic plan for alumni engagement, including identifying priorities, setting measurable goals and objectives, and measuring
  outcomes.
• Engage alumni in the life of the College through consistent and positive communication, exceptional customer service, and
  meaningful opportunities for volunteerism in campus and community events across alumni demographics.
• Hire, supervise and mentor
  staff members to build out a successful Alumni Relations office.
• Work collaboratively with college staff, faculty, and external
  stakeholders to create and implement programs and initiatives that engage alumni, build community, and support the college’s strategic
  goals.
• Manage a constituent portfolio and solicit a measurable number of donations (annual, major, planned) annually, while
  developing a pipeline of potential new opportunities that will support increasing the donor base.
• Create opportunities for
  interaction among College staff, alumni, and potential donors that enhance the potential for financial support to the College.
• Work
  with the Advancement Operations team to ensure alumni records are accurate and up-to-date to ensure engagement activities and new contact
  information are captured in a timely manner.
• Develop and manage an effective volunteer management system that serves as a platform
  for identifying alumni talent and resources, as well as a source for engaging alumni in meaningful volunteer opportunities.
• Utilize
  data and analytics to make informed decisions, measure progress, and continually improve alumni engagement strategies.
• Be involved
  in annual Homecoming/Reunion events by assisting with the planning and execution of activities for alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the
  community.
• Develop and plan alumni events, including homecoming, reunions, regional events, affinity group activities and any other
  engagement opportunities.
• Develop and manage a budget to support alumni relations program activities and the
  identification/cultivation of new alumni prospects.
• Facilitate a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and
  development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
• Contribute to the overall success of the Office of
  Alumni Relations by working on special projects and performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President for
  Advancement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Three to five years of experience in alumni relations, advancement, a non-profit setting, or a related field.
• Excellent written
  and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
• Strong event planning skills and volunteer
  management.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with proven execution.
• Ability to travel and work outside of normal
  business hours as needed; requests for a remote or hybrid work arrangement are open for consideration.
• Ability to interact with the
  campus community and external constituents; to work independently as well as with a team and to proactively develop cooperative
  relationships with key faculty and staff members, colleagues and alumni volunteers.
• Demonstrated experience using data and
  analytics for informed decision-making. Experience using Raiser’s Edge NXT database software.
• Proficiency with a
  variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Applications. Familiarity with advancement databases, social media
  platforms and web-based tools.
