About the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology
The School of Chemistry & Biochemistry of the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for its Director of the Georgia Tech Center for X-ray Diffraction Structure Analysis (CXDSA) user facility. The school has vibrant undergraduate and graduate programs, with 170 graduate students and almost 400 undergraduate majors, learning, teaching, and doing research in a highly enriching environment.
Its faculty, staff, and students participate in a range of dynamic and collaborative research programs and enjoy modern facilities located on a pleasant urban campus in the City of Atlanta, Georgia. The CXDSA is equipped with Bruker D8 Venture with HELIOS Cu and Mo S sources and a PHOTON III detector.

The School of Chemistry & Biochemistry of the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for its Director of the Georgia Tech Center for X-ray Diffraction Structure Analysis (CXDSA) user facility. The position is a full-time, 12-month, renewable postdoctoral or research scientist. Position title will be commensurate with experience. Support for a postdoctoral scientist starting in the position will include professional development and training necessary to convert to a research scientist position.
Minimum Education / Experience Qualifications

Postdoctoral Fellow
* PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science (or a closely related field)
Research Scientist II
* A Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science e or related area, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
* A Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science or related area, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
* A Doctoral degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science or related area
* Demonstrable expertise in X-ray crystallography (for Postdoctoral Fellow
* Demonstrated facility management experience (for Research Scientist II
* Candidates will have extensive experience in X-ray data collection, structure solution and refinement, and maintenance and operation of the instruments in the center, as well as training/supervising users.
* All candidates would benefit from a familiarity with how typical laboratory characterization methods, including NMR, CW EPR, UV/vis/NIR and electronic absorption analysis, relate to and support X-ray diffraction studies. Furthermore, the candidate must be a strong citizen and take a keen interest in the training of users and the successful completion of key operations of the facility. Strong candidates will exhibit significant basic science understanding, motivation, and an ability to originate, carry out, and publish significant original research in collaboration.

The position is open immediately. Longer timelines will be considered as appropriate for the successful candidate. The minimum starting salary is $65,000 a year plus benefits for postdoctoral candidates and $80,000 a year plus benefits for research scientists (higher initial salaries may be possible depending on qualifications and ongoing internal funding initiatives).
