Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant will provide educationally beneficial assistance to the Office of Student Life under the direction of the Special Assistant to the Vice President to develop marketing and communication strategies to effectively promote events, programs, and departments within the Division of Student Life.

Responsibilities

Marketing – 50
Assist in the development of the Division of Student Life brand. Design and edit visual materials for Student Life programs and events, including social media posts, flyers, and digital content. Receive and apply staff feedback. Create marketing strategies for the Division of Student Life for social media, branding, webpages, and events/programs.

Social Media and Program Management – 30
Will manage the VP Student Life Instagram account. Will do regular webpage audits to ensure all Student Life webpages are up to date.
Represent the department at various college events to include Week of Welcome, Fall Fest, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Spring Fest, etc.

Administrative Support – 10
Assist with overall administrative support for the Office of Student Life and Parent and Family Programs including but not limited to greeting and directing guests, answering phones, etc.

Assessment – 10
Assess the success or needed improvement of marketing/engagement for the Division of Student Life using different metrics (social media analysis, event participation, etc.)

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Mass Communication, or Business Administration

Other Required Qualifications
Approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College & State University. Upload Acceptance into ¿Other¿ attachment in application.

Maintain academic good standing. If a student’s grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.

This position will work in¿person 19 hours per week.
-Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition.
-Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.

Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.
