College of Education Dean’s Office
Responsibilities
Responsible for all HR appointments (staff, faculty, OPS, FWS) for the Dean’s units in the College of Education. Creates job openings, initiates personnel actions assists new employees with onboarding, completes I-9 forms, and submits all supporting documentation to complete hiring processes. Monitors all transactions to completion.
Serves as point of contact on employment administration and HR processes with Central HR, including, but not limited to, monitoring evaluation completions, coordinating completion of security role certifications, and maintaining internal documents related to onboarding. Manages, coordinates, and processes staff job openings and hires for the College of Education from the point of advertisement through onboarding. Assists with faculty job openings and hires from the College of Education.
Oversees front desk operations, including coordination, scheduling, and supervision of federal work study and/or OPS employees.
Coordinates office operational functions, including but not limited to office opening and closing procedures, mail distribution, conference rooms scheduling, and parking pass reservations. Makes recommendations on office operational needs including equipment and materials needs and file management.
Assists Dean’s Units employees with attendance and leave reporting and ensures supervisor approval. Reviews bi-weekly Active Employees and Cost Center Reports, ensuring accurate hours and pay for all employees, and obtains approval on bi-weekly payroll certifications. Serves as back-up for attendance and leave approvals for other units in the College. Completes separation checklists for former employees.
Assists with direct support and ongoing projects for the Dean’s office including but not limited to records management, faculty development, events, and other duties as assigned. Serves as HR back-up to academic departments.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and four years’ experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.

What is a typical day in this position? No two days are the same and you will be involved in many aspects of the department. One day you may be hiring new employees and the next you are assisting current employees with their leave reporting to ensure an accurate paycheck. No two hiring scenarios are identical, and you need to be willing to take your knowledge and piece the puzzle together.
What can I expect in the first 60-90 days? Your first few weeks will be getting up to speed on all things COE (College of Education) — our policies, procedures, and what is expected of you. You will complete training classes on FSU’s various HR processes including hiring, attendance and leave, and record keeping.
