Fashion Institute of Technology Looking for First Deputy Bursar Full Time

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), an internationally renowned college of art and design, business and technology, of the State
University of New York, invites nominations and applications for a full-time staff position serving as a First Deputy Bursar in the Office
of the Bursar.

Job Description:

The First Deputy Bursar work in collaboration with the Bursar overseeing the
operations of the Office of the Bursar. The First Deputy Bursar serves as the primary contact for all technical functions in the department
and ensures the integrity and smooth daily operations the billing, receivable and systems operation.

• Manage the technical needs
  of the Bursar’s Office as they relate to student billing and receivables and reporting requirements, provide application and technical
  support for the billing, receivable, and cash management systems.
• Perform data analysis and develop query reports, including
  statistical reports to assess effectiveness of current practices and procedures; promote the use of technology to enhance efficiencies in
  processing of student accounts.
• Manage escalated issues arising from operations that require coordination with other
  departments.
• Manage and streamline department business processes using new and existing technology to integrate with other systems
  and recommend needed changes or improvements.
• Ensure compliance with university, state and federal regulations and standard
  accounting procedures.
• Develop procedural documentation for office processes; train staff on new and existing processes.
• Develop financial reports as required for internal and external auditors; participate in auditing projects.
• Represent the
  Bursar’s Office at meetings and events.
• Ensure high level, quality service is provided to the college community.
• When
  required, assume full responsibility of the department in the absence of the Bursar.
• Perform other duties as needed by the
  department.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements for Education and Experience

• Bachelors required in finance, accounting, and business administration or related field. 
• 5 Years plus working in a
  college or university student accounts department.

Preferred Qualifications for Education and Experience

• Masters preferred.
• Advanced Banner Student System knowledge preferred.

• Knowledge of accounting and accounts receivable principles, methodology, and practices.
• Knowledge
  of federal and state financial regulations, and university policies and procedures.
• Technical expertise, including proficiency in
  working with integrated administrative software, applications, and data applications.
• Ability to develop and write Argos
  Reports.
• Understand the critical need to provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and
  oversee multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of
  management and support personnel.
• Ability to work independently in an assigned area of responsibility with little direct
  supervision and cooperation with administrators and related functions.
