Are You:
Experienced in navigating complex tax regulations and staying up to date with changes in sales tax laws.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills, capable of identifying and resolving sales tax compliance issues efficiently.
As the Sales Tax Analyst, you will research and analyze sales tax laws and regulations and provide guidance on sales tax compliance issues. This role will also ensure Element’s trade-in credit (TIC) program is maximized in terms of efficiency and effectiveness and will assist the Director and managers with projects that will focus on improving processes and leveraging tax technology to reduce exposure and minimize risk for the Company.
The impact of non-compliance can also result in significant negative customer impacts and operational disruptions based on jurisdictional shutdowns of the business. This position also assists the Director and managers in providing reporting and data analytics to support jurisdictional tax audit defense efforts and to ensure the minimization of related taxes, penalties and interest.
A Day in the Life
Perform research and data analytics to minimize risk and ensure compliance with the Company’s revenue streams.
Assist the Sales Tax Compliance team with the filing of returns and account reconciliations as needed
Prepare and defend TIC-related refunds and jurisdictional audits
Identify and implement tax technology and process improvement projects for the sales tax team
Perform tax impact analysis for future TIC jurisdictions
Perform “on-call” consultative support related to internal and external customer issues
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, Accounting, Finance or Related Fields
2-5 years of sales tax experience
General tax and/or accounting experience
Advanced degree/certification a plus
Experience in the financing/leasing industry a plus
Successful IPT Sales Tax School I Completion Preferred
Team player with a professional approach and an ability to interact with management
Highly organized with strong analytical, problem-solving, and oral/written communication skills with the ability to influence others
Basic experience in the utilization of tax technical research tools (CCH, RIA, etc.)
Intermediate level PC Skills, especially withData Base Management Applications, Excel, PowerPoint, Alteryx and Idea
