Dakota Wesleyan University invites applications for the full-time, twelve-month position of performing arts talent coordinator.

POSITION SUMMARY
The performing arts talent coordinator will provide key leadership and is primarily responsible for the recruitment of all performing arts students. This position will guide prospective students and their families through the admissions process, gather information on admission inquiries, connect to associations and other organizations to gather prospects and develop effective recruitment strategies including communication via phone, email, and visits.

This position will work collaboratively with performing arts directors in support of event and travel planning, fundraising initiatives, and retention efforts of performing arts students and support administrative and communication efforts of the directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in, and a passion for, a university performing arts program
• Able to articulate Dakota Wesleyan University’s mission and value
• Able to build relationships with prospective student and families
• Ability to recognize and differentiate talent among candidates for performing arts programs
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communications skills
• Able to work independently, a self-starter
• Organized; detailed oriented
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet goals
• Timely responses to student needs and office obligations
• Experience with office equipment and software-including word processing, Microsoft Outlook, spreadsheets, databases, and social media.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Ability to lift/carry weights of 50 pounds

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide information to prospective students
• Work collaboratively with directors and admissions team members on communication plans
• Supports the coordination of on campus concerts, productions, and events
• In collaboration with Advancement, coordinate and support building the fundraising plans for Friends of Performing Arts
• Composes messaging for prospective students and marketing and web material.
• Conduct information meetings with prospective students and parents on and off campus
• Provide administrative support to the music and theatre faculty and students
• Work as a liaison between directors and the marketing department to provide content for needed materials such as programs, posters, and other advertising
• Recurring need for travel and working outside the normal university hours
• Applicants should be excited about sharing their passion for the performing arts with prospective students. Applicants should also be excited about recruiting students with a desire to participate in both musical and/or theatrical performances.

Responsibilities include seeking out and connecting with talented students to provide information about Dakota Wesleyan University and opportunities to participate in the performing arts at the university; monitoring and meeting yearly recruiting goals; working collaboratively with directors and admissions team members on communication plans in support of recruiting students to the performing arts; supporting the Friends of Performing Arts fundraising initiative; and, in collaboration with program directors and performing arts faculty, supporting the coordination of on-campus concerts, productions, and events.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong organizational skills, strong self-motivation, and an ability to work independently. Highly desirable attributes also include a passion for, and knowledge of, the performing arts, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills. Previous experience in college admissions desirable but not necessary.
