Overview
Reporting to the Vice President, Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center (DFHCC) Administration, the Director, DF/HCC Operations is a member of a highly collaborative, faculty-oriented executive team that is responsible for supporting, promoting, facilitating and integrating the activities of DF/HCC, the largest Comprehensive Cancer Center in the country. As the first and most well-developed consortium with seven member institutions, this position interfaces with faculty as well as representatives from seven institutions, with the overall goal of adding value and addressing the challenges inherent in a multi-institution entity. As a member of the executive team, the Director is responsible for helping DF/HCC assure adherence to NCI guidelines for Comprehensive Cancer Center and identifying ways for DF/HCC to remain in the forefront of peer institutions around the country.
The primary responsibility of the Director is to provide senior-level strategic and administrative support and project management to the 18 Established Research Program in DF/HCC and 14 shared resources. In this capacity, the Director works directly with Program Leaders to identify and implement strategies and activities that facilitate inter-institutional, intraprogrammatic, interprogrammatic, and inter-cancer center research and encourage the active involvement of members in programs. Working with the Deputy Director, this role will also support the planning of new research areas, identifying new ways to build member satisfaction, and help assure compliance with NCI guidelines in this area. Working with the Associate Director for Shared Resources, this role will participate in the oversight of the shared resources, work with the core directors to market the cores, and work with the shared resource project manager to assess usage of the core facilities biannually. The individual will also work with program, shared resource, and senior leadership to address prior critiques of the NCI, EAB, and senior leadership in order to affect high overall programmatic success and adherence to NCI guidelines.
The Director has responsibility for oversight of the CCSG budget, including the P30 award from the NCI and donor funds under the discretion of the DF/HCC Program Director/Principal Investigator. The Director has responsibility for oversight of Bridge Program funds that support DF/HCC and MIT collaborative projects.
The Director plays a major role in the planning and preparation of the competitive and non-competitive CCSG grant. In this role, the individual will, along with other members of the executive team, have full responsibility for assuring that these grant application are compliant with NCI guidelines and are of the highest possible caliber. As such, full understanding of the guidelines as well as knowledge about the Comprehensive Cancer Center community is a goal and responsibility for this position.

Supervises DF/HCC Lead Research Administrator, DF/HCC database manager, DF/HCC administrative specialist, and DF/HCC Shared Resource project manager.
