Lead Infant or Lead Toddler Teacher Position Summary
Under the direction of center administration, the lead teacher develops and executes individual education plans for children ages 6 weeks – 3 years. The lead teacher ensures their teaching team (assistant teacher and teacher aide) provides a safe and educational learning environment for the children.
Major Responsibilities and Tasks
· Program Core Features
o Provide high quality learning environment that incorporates evidence-based curriculum and instructional activities
o Meet with Early Learning Coordinator on a weekly basis to review classroom and child data
o Attend and participate in all scheduled trainings in support of ongoing professional development
o Provide an enhanced curriculum focused on social-emotional development, early language and literacy, and physical development
o Self-reflect on own teaching practices and develop a continuous improvement plan based off of self-assessment tool
· Curriculum
o Implement Creative Curriculum for Infants/ Toddlers in the classroom
o Positively engage with children and use appropriate Conscious Discipline methods, as outlined in CWCC’s policy
o Perform the functions of this position with a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices
o Meet with assistant teacher and aide to review lesson plans and individual child goals and assign best teaching practices
o Complete and submit required forms in a timely manner, including but not limited to: lesson plans, portfolios, assessments, observations, transition plans
· Assessment
o Provide ongoing observation and assessment of each child
o Maintain documentation of each child’s progress and growth according to Teaching Strategies GOLD
o Review assessment results and interpret information to identify areas of need within the classroom
· Home-School Connections
o Conduct two parent-teacher conferences a year to discuss each child’s individual development and progress
o Assist parents in developing educational goals and updating as needed
o Identify individualized transition goals with parents during transition times
o Communicate regularly with parents by means of parent meetings, daily sheets, etc.
o Interpret school program to parents to strengthen the understanding of the child’s needs and the importance of an early learning environment for the continued development of the child
· Other
o Attend staff and parent meetings, as requested
o In cooperation with other staff, complete daily cleaning duties
o Carry out routine duties such as meal preparations, diapering, toileting, hand washing, and supervision of children at all times
o Ensure classroom materials, furniture, and supplies are properly maintained
o Any other duties assigned by center administration
Basic Qualifications for Lead Infant or Toddler Teacher
· Associate’s Degree in E.C.E.
· Experience teaching in an early learning environment
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in E.C.E.
· Knowledge of Creative Curriculum
· Knowledge of State licensing requirements
