The Professional Academic and Career Knowledge (PACK) Center is part of the Division of Academic Affairs lead by the Provost. The Office
of the Provost is responsible for ensuring the quality of student learning by overseeing the curriculum, supporting student success, and
leading new initiatives in higher education.
The PACK Center provides undergraduate advising and career services to ensure
students’ smooth transition to the University and to support student retention, academic success, persistence and career exploration
and preparation. The Center works to enhance student development and success through success coaching, career exploration, referrals, and
coordinating support with academic programs, tutoring, enrollment management, and student affairs units. This supports the overall mission
of the institution, including our Hispanic-Serving Institution status and our commitment to an environment that is welcoming, accessible,
supportive, and inclusive for all students. The PACK Center includes the Career Center which is the leading resource for student and alumni
career and professional development, providing students and graduates with opportunities to develop their own clear career objective, obtain
relevant work experiences, and learn the skills necessary to conduct a successful self-directed job search.

Job
The Director of PACK Center provides visionary strategic and operational leadership and accountability for delivery of
high-quality and high impact advising and career services to ensure students’ smooth transition to the University by leading
collaborations in enrollment, retention, and persistence. The Director leads Pack Center staff in supporting students with inclusive,
proactive and wraparound support to complete their academic and career goals. This includes effective collaboration and cross-functional
guidance with Student Affairs and Academic Affairs. The Director must be a visionary leader able to assess services and to develop and
implement a strategic plan that creatively expands services while supporting existing programs in advising, academic success, student
support, career planning and professional development, internship development, and graduate school preparation.
The Director
supervises Advising and Career Services staff in assessment, planning, implementation and administration of comprehensive student advising
as well as career development programs for students and alumni.
The Director is expected to oversee development, enhancement, and
maintenance of partnerships with major employers in the State of Colorado, specifically, in the South-East Region in order to facilitate
internship and career opportunities for Colorado State University Pueblo students and alumni.
Primary
Duties
Lead PACK Center advising and success coaching
Implement, coordinate, and assess
advising/success coaching initiatives and policies for all CSU Pueblo undergraduate students, including onboarding, intake advising, and
continuing student advising according to university models.
Prepare and disseminate institutional policies, procedures, and
guidelines on advising to advisors, and provide advice and assistance to faculty and staff on advising matters.
Implement and
coordinate career services initiatives to support student exploration and preparation for gainful employment, including oversight of
career-related professional development and events, both virtually and in person.
Exercises leadership in achieving optimal
organizational efficiency and effectiveness, including implementing initiatives to improve work processes and enhance systems and staff
performance.
Keep abreast of current developments in the fields of Advising and Career Services. This includes a solid understanding
of current career management technology platforms and consideration of new technologies and platforms.
Supervise PACK Center
team leads
Provide direct supervision to PACK Center student success coaches and team leads, including the
administrative assistant, Career Center assistant director, Internship Coordinator, Retention Coordinator, and COSI grant coordinator. This
includes staff training and providing a second level of oversight for grant programs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
and implementation of grant requirements.
Coordinate with campus units for student success
Implement
overall vision for CSU Pueblo’s persistence and advising programs and career services, including the evaluation of efforts and
instigation of change as needed. This includes developing and implementing strategies for maximizing the effectiveness of facilitating
collaboration among all PACK Center programs, student support units, academic departments and with the other entities on campus.
Support university retention, persistence and completion initiatives
Support and assist in division and university-level
enrollment, retention, persistence and completion initiatives, and career services including the alignment of unit goals and work with
division and institution strategies.
Supervise and participate in the preparation of grant proposals that renew existing grants and
pursue new grant opportunities related to college access and student success. This includes ensuring compliance with federal and state
regulations and implementation of grant requirements.
