Post-Doctoral Fellow in Radioglaciology
The Opportunity
The
Department of Geophysics and Mines Glaciology Laboratory welcomes applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Radioglaciology. This position
will investigate ice dynamics using ice-penetrating radar stratigraphy to interpret both steady-state and transient ice motion. The position
will implement, optimize, and compare radar algorithms to extract information from internal layers in Antarctica and develop computing
frameworks for integrated analysis with other freely available data products (e.g., satellite remote sensing datasets, climate reanalysis
products). The incumbent will work with their faculty mentor to develop a postdoctoral development plan that may include domestic and
international travel and/or mentorship of undergraduate and/or graduate students. This opportunity requires a 9/15/2023 start date and will
last one year with the opportunity for a second year based on the incumbent’s interest.
Responsibilities
The
Post-Doctoral Fellow will be responsible for:
Leadership of their research project; Implementation and analysis of radar processing
algorithms; Development of scalable computation frameworks for large-scale integrative ice-sheet analysis; Mentorship of undergraduate
and/or graduate students as needed for the project; Presentation of results at national or international meetings as well as submission of
results to peer-reviewed journals.

Pay Range
$ 67,800
Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education,
training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location,
and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
