BASIC FUNCTION:
Under general supervision, to provide a variety of accounting, recordkeeping, and accounts payable work for Financial Accounting Services.
SCOPE AND NATURE:
Positions in this classification perform a variety of tasks related to the College’s financial activities relying upon established policies, procedures, and guidelines originating with the department or the College. Requires ability to exercise judgment and the ability to analyze and recognize discrepancies or deviations from standard procedures and policies and to bring identified problems to resolution.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

1. Prepare, maintain, monitor, and/or analyze a variety of reports, billings, accounts, requisitions, procedures, purchase orders, invoices, and other hard-copy or electronic documents or databases as assigned.
2. Review, track, check, approve, reconcile, validate: purchase orders, invoices, vendor statements, reports, W-9 forms, 1099 services, maintain files, back-up documentation, payment distributions, agency-sponsored registrations, student accounts, collections, purchase;/travel card transactions, expense reports.
3. Process and reconcile vendor billings, adjustments for students and vendors, ACH transactions, non-sufficient fund checks, bankruptcies, and student collections.
4. Respond to questions from students, employees, customers, and vendors and resolve problems concerning payments, earnings, deductions, invoices, refunds, late fees, payment procedures or other concerns within established guidelines.
5. Processes, maintains and reconciles property tax levies and chargeback invoices, sales tax reports, capital assets, asset inventory records, and other financial reporting as assigned.
6. Provide training and assistance to others in use of financial accounting system.
7. Assists with periodic audits and other projects based on department peak workload periods.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
1. Knowledge of office and standard accounting principles, practices and procedures.
2. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Ability to type at least 50 words per minute using proper Business English grammar, spelling and punctuation. Must be able to create and use complex Excel spreadsheets. Aptitude for data entry and calculator. Proficient in performing mathematical calculations such as percentages and ratios.
3. Familiarity with microcomputer applications and computerized accounting systems.
4. Ability to reconcile financial documents/reports.
5. Good critical thinking and analytical skills.
6. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot billing and account problems.
7. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
8. Ability to work effectively with other staff, management personnel, financial institutions, other agencies and companies, and the general public.
9. Highly competent for accuracy and detail.
10. Ability to read, understand, and explain complicated procedures and regulations; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and to organize and schedule work priorities effectively.

Position Information
This position is full time. Hours are generally Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Salary is listed at the 2021-2022 rates.
