These positions are open to the general public and to all current city employees covered under the terms of the City’s collective bargaining agreement with the AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – (BARGAINING UNIT #01, 03, 04, 05). Only employees currently in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

Under general supervision, performs professional accounting work of the most complex nature, typically requiring the application of advanced accounting knowledge, and/or functions as a working supervisor over a small accounting staff while maintaining own accounts, and performs related duties as required.

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Salary: $82,500/Annually

THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE
O Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a directly related field with 15 semester hours in Accounting, plus three years of professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, provided that the minimum degree requirement is met.
NOTE: You must provide your college or university transcripts displaying 15 completed semester hours in accounting courses at the time of interview. IF YOU FAIL TO PROVIDE this information at the time of the interview, you will not be allowed to proceed with the interview and will no longer be considered for this position.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected. The interviewed bidders possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected in seniority order according to the collective bargaining agreement.
Preference will be given to external candidates possessing the following:
* Experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards.
* Professional Accounting experience in grants management.
* Experience with leading and managing a team.
* Experience with annual audits and financial schedules.
* Accounting experience working with fixed assets.
* Proficiency in using Oracle based accounting software.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook.
