Regulatory and Contracts (“R&C”) Division
ASSISTANT CORPORATION COUNSEL II
The City of Chicago Law Department is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel (“ACC”) in the R&C Division to represent various City Departments in transactional matters. The ACC will work under the general supervision of the Deputy Corporation Counsel, Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel, and Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisors of the R&C Division. The ACC will analyze proposed transactions for compliance with law, conduct legal research, and advise City Departments on legal compliance and regulatory matters. The ACC will also review, draft, and negotiate contracts for the purchase of goods, work, and services, including contracts for information technology, construction, professional services and concessions. The ACC will also review and draft proposed ordinances related to such agreements. This ACC will be expected to learn the complex statutory and regulatory frameworks for municipal law and contracts. This ACC may be required to assist in other division practice areas to support operations as necessary, and may be required to attend in-person client meetings or hearings onsite at the City’s airports or other locations.

THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE.
Graduation from an American Bar Association accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree and admission to the Illinois Bar (or eligible for admission on motion to the Illinois Bar pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 705).

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.

Residency Requirement: All employees of the City of Chicago must be actual residents of the City of Chicago as outlined in 2-152-050 of the City of Chicago Municipal Code. Proof of residency will be required.
