Catalent Hiring for Scientist I, Biologics I – Analytical Chemistry job in Kansas City Full Time

Catalent Pharma Solutions in Kansas City, MO is hiring a Scientist I, Biologics I who is responsible for method evaluation, optimization, transfer and validation activities under cGMP regulatory guidance for Large Molecules/Biologics product development and related stability studies. Also responsible for drafting technical documents such as methods, method forms, validation protocols and reports.

This is a full-time role position: Monday – Friday, days.

Catalent’s Kansas City facility is home to our Oral & Specialty Drug Delivery, Biologics Analytical Services and Clinical Supply Services businesses. The site provides a range of integrated services for oral solid dosage forms, from formulation development and analytical testing to clinical and commercial-scale manufacture. The Kansas City facility is a Center-of-Excellence for our Biologics Analytical Services business. The Role

• In support of large molecule therapeutics, develop and execute laboratory work, plans/schedules independently using customer milestones and Division/site performance standards and metrics;

• Sample types include in-process, release or stability for CMC support. Techniques may include any or all of the following: Capillary and gel electrophoresis (e.g. CE-SDS, SDS-PAGE, icIEF, IEF, western blot, etc.), Mass spectrometry (e.g. LCMS, GCMS, ICP-MS, for small and large molecules), CD, Intrinsic fluorescence, DSC, TGA;
• Successfully trains on 2-4 methods and/or techniques mentioned above and perform adhoc sample testing activities and participate with minimum guidance in method development, evaluation, optimization, transfer, and validation activities under cGMP as required;
• Perform method validation or transfer activities, as needed. Under direction, perform method development activities;
• Train and coach peers on methods and laboratory instruments and equipment;
• Perform various types of testing under cGMP, as appropriate, Author technical documents, such as protocols, test methods, reports, certificates of analysis, and operating procedures;
• Review technical documents for accuracy, thoroughness and regulatory compliance;
• Train, coach or mentor others on technical, personal development or business issues;

• All other duties as assigned;

The Candidate

• Degree in life sciences such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or closely related physical science
• Bachelor’s degree: 6+ years of relevant experience or based on performance at Catalent; OR Master’s degree: 4+ years of relevant experience or based on performance at Catalent; OR Doctorate degree in related life science or physical science field required. 0+ years work experience required;
• Experience with Mass Spectrometry required;
• Has applied advanced knowledge of the principles, theories, and concepts applicable to a wide range of work in a discipline(e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) and broad knowledge of principles and concepts in other disciplines;
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills with internal and external customers, colleagues, and supervisor;
• Well organized with ability to multitask and execute multiple tasks within a given timeframe efficiently;
• Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds;
