We are looking for a Payroll leader to add to our growing team. As the Payroll Director, you will be responsible for our payroll function including payroll operations, tax reporting and auditing, system improvements, and management of the payroll team. The Payroll Director will also oversee complex multi-state system (for frequent business travelers), various reconciliations and audits, and annual W-2 process. This position is critical to ensure compliant, timely, and accurate payroll processing for our North America staff (US and Canada) at BCG. This role will report to our US Controller and manage a team of approximately 15- 20 payroll members located in Boston, Atlanta, and Toronto providing payroll services to roughly 10,000 employees. You will coach, guide, and mentor the team members to help them grow and develop the critical skills needed to succeed. In this role, you will have the opportunity to display your exceptional problem solving, leadership, and analytical skills.
We have embarked on an exciting journey of modernizing and transforming our US and Canada payroll functions, engaging a third-party consulting firm to uncover opportunities and develop a roadmap. The Payroll Director will take an active role leading the transformation initiative, partnering closely with our US Controller and other Finance Leaders across North America. As such, we are seeking candidates with substantial payroll transformation and project management experience in addition to substantial payroll functional experience.

YOU”RE GOOD AT
Strong project management skills; must be able to manage multiple complex projects at the same time
Proven ability to build strong partnerships with colleagues, desire to be flexible and think strategically
Expert level understanding of Federal, State, and local wage and tax laws, and keeping policy at the forefront of the Payroll organization
Creating and encouraging a stimulating work environment for the US Payroll team through excellent communication; providing coaching and development opportunities to all members of the team. Continuously seeking to improve our payroll and operational processes
Manage day to day escalations and act as business partner to resolve issues requiring additional assistance for resolution
Creating a close partnership with Finance colleagues across the North America region and in other areas of the organization to ensure alignment of policies and procedures
Demonstrated experience of successfully working virtually, and in complex international and matrixed organization
Strong organizational and process management skills. Comfortable with multi-tasking and prioritizing within a fast-paced, demanding environment
Able to interpret rules and guidelines flexibly to enhance the business and in keeping with BCG’s values and culture
High integrity, a positive can-do attitude, and an ability to maintain absolute confidentiality
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
Bachelor”s Degree is required; MBA or other professional degree preferred
Minimum 10 years of payroll processing experience including multi-state payrolls, 5 years managing/leading a payroll team.
Demonstrated leadership skills in managing performance, coaching, and staff development
Extensive expertise in ADP is preferred

Members of our finance team are responsible for preserving the intellectual capital, assets, and integrity of BCG. We make a decisive impact on the firm’s direction, performance, and risk-management models. Finance jobs include accounting and reporting, planning and analysis, tax and treasury, financial systems, payroll, and executive compensation.
The payroll team processes payroll for approximately 10,000 employees. We are currently a team of approximately 15-20 employees who are looking to grow our team, adapt to the changing business needs and provide excellent customer service to employees and internal functions.
The Payroll Director will work with external vendors to implement proposed changes around team structure, process changes, and automation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This role sits in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently, this role is in the office 3 days/week, providing flexibility to work from home 40% of the time. This hybrid schedule allows for critically important learning, collaboration, and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are as agreed upon by the team.
