BCC is looking for a candidate who enjoys working with high school and college students to recruit and support individuals through a
STEM-focused academic support program, the STEM Starter Academy. The ideal candidate is comfortable connecting with students and
establishing STEM pathways for individuals whether they are curious about STEM, determined to be STEM majors, or looking for an academic
focus and might not know the STEM options available to them. They will liaise with school contacts, conduct informational sessions, and
organize the curriculum for the STEM Starter Academy summer workshop.
The staff member in this position will assist the Berkshire
Science Commons Director, conduct informational sessions, and organize the curriculum for the STEM Starter Academy summer workshop. They are
responsible for two main pillars of the STEM Starter Academy program framework: recruitment of new students to the program and readiness
preparation for college skills.
Specific items of responsibility would include recruiting school liaisons and maintaining
communication, tracking student contacts and following up with interested potential participants, delivering info sessions on BCC campus and
at local high schools, conducting college readiness instruction at the yearly summer workshop, planning for the summer workshop including
recruiting faculty and consultants, organizing programs and workplace visits for the students, communicating with and coaching dual-enrolled
program participants, and other duties as needed for the program.
