Job Description:
The Music Therapy Department at Berklee College of Music is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position
in Music Therapy. With one of the largest undergraduate music therapy degree programs worldwide, Berklee College of Music works to
advance the field of music therapy forward through the development and innovation of best practices. The department includes:
Undergraduate degree in music therapy
Undergraduate minor in music and health
Institute for Music
and Health
Center for Music Therapy
As a department staffed by leading experts in the field, we are
committed to providing learning experiences that allow students to explore a holistic view of the use of music in health, healing, and
well-being. This full-time position reports to the Chair of Music Therapy, in the Professional Education Division. This is a 9-month
position (fall/spring semesters) with opportunity for teaching during the summer semester.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate degree in Music Therapy from an accredited University/College, PhD, or currently enrolled in a PhD program,
preferred.
Board certification in music therapy, or international equivalent
A minimum of 5 years music
therapy clinical experience with a clinical specialization incorporating a music-centered approach. Preference given to those with expertise
in adult behavioral health and/or community music therapy, including engagement with diverse stakeholders.
Advanced
certification/training in Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, Vocal Psychotherapy, Guided Imagery and Music, or Analytical Music Therapy,
preferred
Classroom teaching experience, including experience with anti-oppressive curriculum development, pedagogical best
practices, and academic supervision
Record of and ongoing engagement in creative scholarship/professional
activity
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to collaborate with diverse
stakeholders
Strong command of technology used to engage diverse students and consumers of music
therapy
Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and belonging
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach courses in the music therapy department, including coursework within the music and health minor, as
assigned
Regular presence at local, regional, national and/or international professional conferences including research
collaboration with other educational/healthcare professionals and/or service to the profession through committee
leadership
Contribute to curriculum development and review
Contribute to Music Therapy Department and college
wide sponsored special events
Advance the student experience and the work of the Department, the Division, and the
College
Serve on Department, Division, and/or College committees, as assigned
Follow the requirements outlined
in the Berklee Faculty Contract Agreement (e.g. attend department meetings, holding office hours).
