The primary purpose of the Bereavement Counselor is to provide supportive services to meet patient/family social and emotional needs relating to the impact of a terminal illness, loss, grief and adjustment. Hospice bereavement care focuses on helping family members understand and move forward in the grief process, helping with problem-solving around adjustment issues, providing guidance about decision-making, addressing social and spiritual concerns, and helping survivors to adapt to an environment without the decreased while experiencing a continued but different relationship with the deceased.
