About the Role
This is a new role at the plant, and it will require the Specialist to establish the foundation for a learning framework within the plant. This framework should highlight the learning strengths and weaknesses of key audiences within the plant and clarify learning and development opportunities. The results of this framework should be the strengthening of individual leadership competencies, reduced organizational learning weaknesses, improved staff retention, and create clear succession planning which all should support the plant’s production output. A special focus of this role will be to assess, develop, execute, evaluate, and continuously-improve the management and leadership skills of the leaders within the plant. This role will also support the continuous improvement (CI) efforts throughout plant operations, which should impact all plant employees. Other key learning initiatives will be developed as the learning framework is completed.
Key Responsibilities
· Creates and owns the learning framework within the plant. Outlines key weaknesses and designs learning/development strategies/tactics to overcome those weaknesses.
· Supports the capture of learning data, including reports, updates, and data import / export.
· Assesses organizational management and leadership learning needs within the plant.
· Prioritizes management and leadership learning needs to accelerate plant production.
· Creates, purchases, and executes learning initiatives designed to overcome management and leadership learning needs and to improve plant production and employee retention.
· In concert with plant and HR leaders, creates, implements, and manages the plant’s succession planning process.
· In partnership with the plant’s CI leader, create and implement efforts to support the plant’s Continuous Improvement efforts to improve plant productivity.
· Other key initiatives as assigned.
Education and Experience Preferred
· Degree in human resources, instructional technology, or business.
· On-the-job required travel time: Under 25%.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Detailed knowledge and understanding of instructional technology tools and resources.
· Experience in management and leadership skills assessment, program design, implementation, and follow-up.
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, financial reports, and governmental regulations.
· Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
· Ability to effectively present information in a public setting.
· Ability to perform intermediate math such as basic algebra and geometry.
· Proficient computer skills with MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel or equivalent programs.
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
