Position Summary:
The Student Support Services Director is responsible for the financial and operational status of an SSS 5-year federal budget totaling $2,087,625.00. The Director supervises four professional staff members, student workers, and 308 first-generation, low-income, disadvantaged students who may have a disability. In addition, the Director is in charge of planning, evaluating, and implementing SSS educational programming and cultural activities. The U.S. Department of Education governs this position, along with state and federal laws, Henderson State University, and Arkansas State University. The Student Support Services Director is under the direct supervision of the TRiO Campus Coordinator, the HSU Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success, and the U.S. Department of Education Program Specialist. The SSS Director plans and coordinates all daily student educational activities.

Reviews student qualifications for SSS, financial records, statutes, and the utilization of Student Support Services resources:
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of educational programming for disadvantaged students. Knowledge of grant implementation, monitoring, and fiscal control practices. Knowledge of regulations governing approved grant educational and cultural activities for students. Ability to review, monitor, and administer grant programming activities. Ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate SSS grant program compliance. Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written technical information and materials.
General Days/Hours:
Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Must be available evenings and weekends to work with students and parents, travel with students on cultural and academic trips, and to out-of-state U.S. Department of Education Technical Training and professional conferences

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree required in education, grant administration, accounting, finance, social services, or a related field, plus five years of experience in program planning, grant administration, academic advising, or a related area.
