Opportunity at a Glance
As the Network Engineer you will install, manage, monitor, and provide on-going support of the Adtalem network infrastructure. You will be working on implementations, providing maintenance, and supporting LAN/WAN services – including wireless networks, firewalls and security devices both with a physical and/or cloud presence.
Responsibilities
- Implementation of Cisco routers, switches, and Firewalls with minimal oversight.
- Ability to implement network security services including firewalls, VPN systems, IDP systems, and NAC systems.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level troubleshooting for all routing and switching platforms utilizing network analysis tools, as required.
- Support network design and operation for AWS and GCP cloud environments.
- Define processes and tools to proactively monitor all network infrastructure services to ensure adequate capacity planning, performance, and high availability.
- Assist regional campus IT staff in the installation of networking services at new locations and in the implementation of best practices and designs.
- Develop, update, and audit network infrastructure documentation, including network diagrams.
- Analyze project needs/requirements and recommend systems to enhance network redundancy, resiliency, and security.
- Develop, maintain and communicate project plans and status updates.
- Follow technical project management direction for infrastructure projects.
- Provide management and oversight of internet circuits and contract end dates.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain system configurations, quoting, and support.
- Occasionally travel to a variety of Adtalem locations.
- Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Networking, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience designing, engineering, implementing, and supporting complex, multi-site, multi-national, multi-vendor networks.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience with Cisco routers and switches.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience with Cisco ASA, Firepower firewalls.
- Minimum two (2) years experience with Wireless technologies such Cisco and Meraki platforms.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience with GCP and/or AWS.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of the OSI model.
- Strong understanding of Cisco networking and switching technologies including TCP/IP, routing protocols, multicast, MPLS, WAN and VPN services.
- Understanding of SD-WAN and Versa
- Experience with Cisco DNA configuration and operations.
- Strong understanding of QoS to support a variety of mission critical applications.
- Experience utilizing protocol analyzers and sniffers to troubleshoot network and application issues.
- Configure Cisco ASA including SSL VPN services and IPsec Tunnels.
- Ability to create and maintain network diagrams.
- Follow change management processes.
- Load balancers is strongly desired, but not required.
- Enterprise LAN/WAN monitoring and management solutions (NMS) is strongly desired.
- Previous experience working with higher education institutions is desired, but not required.
- Understanding of and experience with ITIL/SDLC methodologies is strongly desired, but not required.
- Cisco certifications are strongly desired, but not required.
- Proven ability to communicate professionally in a corporate environment.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem solving skills and the ability to work individually and within a team.
