The CARTA Deans Office is currently seeking a student to join their team of professionals.

The Student HR Assistant provides administrative support to the Office of the Dean within the College of Communication, Architecture The Arts (CARTA) in relation to human resources, as well as assisting the Dean’s Office Front Desk area

Duties Include:

• Creates job postings for students, initiates job offers and tracks the hiring process
• Initiates HR forms
• Serves as first point of contact for the Dean’s Office (front desk coverage, answer phones)
• Assist students who drop-in for advisor appointments
• Follows up with central HR regarding any pending actions
• Follows up with departments or applicants regarding pending documentation
• Make deliveries of essential documents/items to other units
• Scans HR documents into CARTA ImageNow system
• At least 2 semesters of FIU work experience or related experience outside the University
• Complete PowerPoint training
• Complete Appropriate HR trainings

Federal Work Study

• Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to work in a team setting
• Intermediate level of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of PC operations and specialized software
• Ability to take direction and work independently as needed
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information

• Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
• Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
• Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.

Hours will vary based on class schedule and needs of the department.
