Position Overview:
Anthem Christian School is seeking more gifted teachers for the 2023-2024school year beginning August 2023. Anthem is looking for a junior high teacher who desires to work with a Christian team of teachers and who loves to create order, structure, and a positive learning environment in the classroom. This person has a clear desire to be a part of a teaching ministry and understands what it takes to create excellence, positive change, in a safe, loving environment for students.
Job summary:
The school teacher shall prayerfully create and maintain a learning environment where students achieve excellence in academic, develop Christ-like character and acquire skills that will foster their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God. Our junior high class is a combination class of 7th and 8th grade students and the junior high teacher teaches all subjects except PE and music.

· Possess evidence of required education, training, and experience as determined by the school administrator.
· Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
· Have experience teaching in a Christian setting.
· Follow specific curriculum and develop lesson plans to nurture the children in their classroom.
· Wear the staff uniform with pride following the uniform policies.

Essential Job Functions—Accountabilities:
Spiritual Leadership
· Maintain high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters.
· Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict.
· Ensure that the classroom environment is Christian-based, nurturing, wholesome, and loving.
Academic Leadership:
· Have knowledge of the school’s vision/mission, programs, and policies.
· Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian worldview throughout the curriculum and activities.
· Teach classes as assigned following the prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the administration.
· Plan broadly through the use of curriculum maps, and daily/weekly through the use of a lesson plan book.
· Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and challenges them to do their best work.
· Employ a variety of instruction methods, and materials based on best teaching practices that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child – spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.
· Use homework effectively for enrichment or project work according to school policy.
· Regularly assess the learning of students to guide planning and instruction and provide progress reports as required.
· Respond in a timely manner to parent concerns and to parent requests for help or information.
· Participate in formal and informal parent-teacher conferences and as a member of student study teams.
· Participate in continuous professional development through professional reading, college or graduate level course work, in-services, workshops, and conferences.
· Participate fully in assigned committee work related to academic standards, curriculum adoptions, accreditation, etc.
Administrative Leadership:
· Provide a safe and productive learning environment by keeping students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on task, and academically productive during class and while at other places on the school premises through the use of effective classroom management strategies.
· Meet regularly with other staff members to ensure coordination of programs and prompt problem resolution.
· Maintain a physical presence with the students by attending and participating in school chapels, assemblies, athletic events, and other presentations.
· Participate in beginning-of-year staff orientation, staff devotionals, staff meetings, and parent/teacher fellowship meetings and events.
· Respect professional ethics that require confidentiality concerning the sharing of information about children, parents, or staff.
· Maintain regular and accurate records of attendance and grades to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s progress.
· Keep students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of student progress or deficiencies and give sufficient notice of student failure.
· Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations in the classroom and school. Conduct required emergency safety drills in coordination with school administration.
Additional Duties or Responsibilities:
· Recognize the need for good public relations and represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public.
· Participate in the school’s development programs and activities in areas of constituency relations, fundraising, and student recruitment and retention.
· Supervise recess, arrival/dismissal, extracurricular activities, organizations, and field trips, as assigned.
· Participate in the end-of-year school closing processes such as textbook inventory, ordering supplemental materials, and student homeroom placements.
· Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration.
· Attend scheduled retreats and workshops as scheduled at the beginning of each school year.

· The teacher is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; talk; and hear. The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· The teacher must be able to negotiate flights of stairs regularly to meet their responsibilities as they relate to the school program.
· The teacher must be able to speak clearly and loudly so students will be able to understand what is being said. On numerous occasions, the teacher will be required to communicate orally with parents in person or over the telephone.
· The teacher must be able to respond quickly when an emergency arises. The teacher is required to accompany and control children during emergency drills and during an actual emergency. The escape route may require the students and faculty to traverse one flight of stairs and to proceed 500 feet from the building to the evacuation area.
· The teacher must be able to walk around the buildings and traverse stairs several times a day. This person must also be able to walk around the school property for the purposes of supervision and inspection.
· The teacher must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time and have dexterity of hands and fingers for operating office equipment.
· The teacher must be able to, on occasion, work longer hours than a typical day for events such as parent-teacher conferences, special programs, school events, committee meetings, or other meetings or functions in the early morning, evening or weekend.
