POSITION SUMMARY: Our client in San Francisco seeks a dynamic, resourceful, and organized Temporary Receptionist who is passionate about providing superlative customer service and resolute in the belief that everyone deserves to be treated with professionalism and respect. The Temporary Receptionist works closely with the Operations Manager to provide a welcoming and inviting environment at an innovative LGBTQ senior activity center.
The Temporary Receptionist will provide exemplary front desk support functions including greeting visitors, coordinating telephone communications, providing information, and monitoring the front lobby, including the flow of traffic in and out of the building. A warm and engaging interpersonal demeanor and a pleasant community service focused attitude are essential.
The senior activity center is the location of an adult day program providing continuity of care for LGBTQ+ seniors, some of whom may have dementia. The Temporary Receptionist will interact directly with office staff; staff with our adult day program partner, On Lok; and community member participants and partners, caregivers, and visitors.
The position is part-time (0.20 FTE), non-exempt, and has no direct supervisory responsibilities. The work schedule is expected to be Saturday only, beyond initial training; evening and/or additional hours may sometimes be required. The actual schedule is subject to change. The position reports to the Operations Manager. The Service Term for this position is Three Months.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Greet people with a smile; offer genuine hospitality and deliver extraordinary service to the community;
2. Greet persons entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct as appropriate to specific person or destination;
3. Answer incoming calls in an enthusiastic tone, and in a manner consistent with the mission and values : answer questions, provide information, take messages, and route calls;
4. Maintain organized and presentable front desk and lobby area;
5. Build and maintain collegial and supportive relationships with volunteers, including Reception volunteers;
6. Assist in clerical or administrative support tasks as needed (e.g. performing COVID-19 health screenings as needed, maintaining visitor logs, and other functions);
7. Maintain safety and security by following policies and procedures; actively participate in safety
and security culture;
8. Additional duties as assigned.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate for the position will be able to demonstrate:
· Experience working with LGBTQ older adults—or equivalent experience working with other populations with unique socialization and service needs—is ideal;
· Customer service experience;
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook);
· Outstanding communication skills including friendliness, active listening, empathy, and confidence;
· Strong interpersonal skills including tact, patience, and flexibility, as well as the ability to give and receive feedback;
· High dependability, integrity, and conscientiousness; excellent time management skills;
· Ability to remain calm under pressure;
· Creative problem-solving skills including good judgment, team orientation, and emotional intelligence;
· Additional duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Full COVID-19 vaccination required. Physical skills and ability to perform work that requires sitting, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 35 pounds. This position will need to pass a background check that is compliant with On Lok’s requirements.
