Position Summary: The Inventory Control Specialist will maintain the shipping, receiving, handling, and processing of raw materials to ensure that production requirements are met. They will ensure adequate supplies of material are on hand and maintain accurate inventory counts. They will request material and determine expired materials. Coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing and facilities.
Essential Functions:
· Oversee the total inventory management process including but not limited to; cycle counts, full physical inventory counts, performing inventory investigations when needed or required. Perform all material operations as needed. General Warehouse Operations (inventory control, shipping, receiving, ERP, fork truck, etc.)
· Perform incoming material receipts and all storage moves necessary. Ensure that receipts are received, processed, documented, and maintained in MRP.
· Responsible to coordinate replenishment of production staging area to ensure production has raw materials needed for the next shift.
· Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles.
· Attends required meetings. Can clearly communicate issues with the production usage and processes to other employees including Managers.
· Maintain GMP compliance to include labeling, FIFO, documentation, cleaning, etc.
· Prepare hazardous waste and materials for disposal in coordination with EH&S. Assist EHS with handling and disposal of hazardous waste streams.
· Strategize to balance demand and delivery schedules due to expiration date of perishables.
· Use MRP to procure critical commodities and ensure components are delivered on time so that production schedules are met.
· Drive continuous improvement to systems and processes throughout the inventory control process as it relates to raw materials moving in and out of the warehouse.
· Work with Quality Assurance to ensure all inventory meets standards. Responsible for disposing damaged, contaminated, or expired inventory.
· Work with production to develop a program to track waste of raw materials in the plant.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Skills and Abilities:
· Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
· Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
· Knows all safety, quality, and Company practices and policies.
· Basic excel and data entry skills.
· Independent work ethic and responsibility.
Education and Experience:
· Required – High school diploma. Possesses all Operator level knowledge.
· Preferred – 1 Year manufacturing experience.
· Previous warehouse or ERP experience a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
· The employee will frequently be required reach with hands, arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
· Occasionally the employee will be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
· The noise level in the work environment is loud due to the MHE, and hearing protection is required at times.
· Must be able to use or learn to use a forklift or other PIVs.
· Prolonged periods of standing.
