EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Direct the information and data integrity of the City & Dougherty County and their business units.Develop strategic plans and implement the objectives of the information technology needs of the City and Dougherty County to ensure the computer capabilities are responsive to the needs of the City and Dougherty County’s growth and objectives.Develop and establish operating policies and approaches for computing and information technology. Evaluate overall operations of computing and information technology functions and recommend enhancements.Advise senior management on strategic systems conversions and integrations in support of business goals and objectives.Prepare enterprise objectives and budgets to facilitate the orderly and efficient capture, storage, processing, and dissemination of information.Interact with City and Dougherty County managers on internal and external operations that are impacted by the capture, storage, processing and dissemination of information.Review and approve major contracts for computing and information technology services and equipment.Ensure the security of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment.Oversee the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software packages.Responsible for the development, review, and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.Identify emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the City and Dougherty County.Assess new computing technologies to determine potential value for the City and Dougherty County.Oversee ongoing improvements and the feasibility of system enhancements.Establish City and Dougherty County infrastructure to support and guide individual divisions/departments/sites in computing and information technology efforts.Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.Serve on planning and policy-making committeesSupervisory ResponsibilitiesManages four subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 25 employees in the Technology & Communications Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises one non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
