Job Summary:
The position creates communications plans, strategies and content for both internal and external use with a variety of channels to broaden awareness and technology adoption of RUSH system physicians, employees and staff. Key areas of content for communications include: technology to expand Digital & Information Services; partnerships transform care and education; and cybersecurity preventative and proactive tactics. Works with supervisor and other staff to develop detailed communications project plans and ensure that plans meet goals, deadlines, budgets, compliance requirements, and other deliverables. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
Develops content/writes stories, articles, on innovations and advances in technology for use as news stories, internal stories, memos, executive communications, flyers, videos, brochures, message boards and signs.
Works with marketing to place stories about RUSH Digital & Information services work in local and national news media, social media. Develops editorial calendars and plans for communications of special campaigns associated with changes and improvements in RUSHs technology used by all employees and physicians.
Interviews sources, researches issues, writes and edits content for use various communication channels.
Understanding of developments/technology changes in health care and ability to translate this information into meaningful messages and stories and other content.
Recognize trends/changes in IT and health care and identify opportunities to communicate about these.
Provides communications counsel and support to leadership – particularly in Information Technology.
Fosters internal and external understanding of Rush values and goals and to advance understanding and support of campus and overall system goals and priorities related to IT projects.
Addresses Information Service department’s communication needs associated with Rush’s emergency preparedness and crisis plans, cyber security improvements.
Serves on project teams to develop, creatively launch and manage new digital resources including applications (apps), software, third-party tools, etc. in order to best understand and communicate internally and externally.
Make recommendations that add value to the stakeholder experience.
Serve as Rush liaison to digital vendors to provide communication direction.
Regularly provides timely content for RUSH marketing and communications efforts, internal and external, and RUSH web sites.
Other relevant duties as required recognizing the rapidly changing healthcare and technology environments, responsibilities may evolve and/or reprioritize over time.
Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor in/or related communications field and 3+ years of experience
Knowledge of the complexities of the health care environment and the rapidly moving advances in technology in the healthcare and education fields.
Knowledge of technology and health care media and reporters; demonstrated track record of successfully placing news and feature stories with high visibility media outlets/reporters/sites.¡P
Demonstrated proficiency in writing for a variety of content styles including web, blogs, social media, and video script communications or marketing experience preferably in health care.
Strong computer skills, utilizing word processing, presentation software as well as web site management system – SharePoint; PowerPoint.
Ability to work effectively with diverse staff at all institutional levels.
Strong analytical abilities, excellent writing, editing, proof reading and research skills.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a strong work ethic.
Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team; demonstrated ability to develop, plan and deliver projects with minimal direction, seeking guidance when appropriate.
Ability to identify and initiate projects; and be able to organize and prioritize multiple projects; collaborate well with others; commitment to team success.
Action and outcome oriented, and comfortable working in a rapidly changing, emergent, non-routine environment.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience in a health care provider setting with technology and/or research communications experience.
