We have grown quickly from two courses offered in 2020 to 26 courses offered now. Our best classes have over 100 students and our student
body is thoroughly engaged – and engaging.
The successful applicant(s) will participate in the development and teaching of an
up-to-date course in Neuroscience, reviewing classical neuroscience focused on the relationship between brain structures and function. They
will be able to reconcile classical neuroscience with the latest published findings of widespread brain activity during cognitive tasks
previously thought to occur primarily within restricted regions in the human brain. Applicants should be familiar with processes of human
neurodevelopment and cognition and be prepared to teach the same to a curious and engaged non-professional public. An interest or knowledge
of the neuroscience of human consciousness will be considered a major plus.
Salary range is wide as our compensation model is
based on a publication contract model (royalties per course registrant).
Applicants should provide the following
material:
(1) A statement of interest that emphasizes the value of teaching neuroscience to the general public;
(2) A c.v.
(3) A brief, original writing sample of up to four original paragraphs (with primary literature citations) on the
following topics: The role of microglia during neurodevelopment and learning and the impact of environmental toxins on the availability of
microglia during neurodevelopment and learning, OR
(4) A brief, original writing sample (also up to four original paragraphs with
primary literature citations) on the problem of discord between class neuroscience and the more recent findings of widespread brain activity
during cognition processes of various types.
