Job Summary/Basic Function
Teach 24 credit hours (8 courses) in Social Work over a two-semester academic year or a mix of courses and administrative duties directing Field Education for BASW and MASW students that is equivalent to 24 credit hours, as assigned by the department chair and approved by the CHEH Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program awarded prior to start date. Two (2) years post-MSW social work experience at the time of application. LSW or equivalent eligible. Excellent communication, organizations and multi-tasking skills with proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated personal commitment to the values of social work, including but not limited to anti-racism, anti-oppression practice and social justice. Ability to travel to make in-person visits to field experience locations to ensure appropriate student progression.
Preferred Qualifications
Valid driver’s license. Demonstrated excellence in teaching social work curriculum. Three (3) or more years post-MSW social work experience. Experience providing student field placement supervision. Current LISW or equivalent. Ability to work within ambiguous situations and apply novel solutions. Experience with online teaching technologies. Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position, including social justice and/or anti-racism. A commitment to working with a diverse population of students.
Essential Functions and percent of time
70%-80% – Teaching graduate and undergraduate social work curriculum; exact percentage depends on effort assigned to administrative duties related to Field Experiences.
30%-20% – Service by participating in committees at the department, college, and university level as approved by the department chair and CHEH Dean.
Working Conditions
Standard educational and/or professional office environment. Position may require in-person and virtual teaching. Service duties and will require in-person/on campus effort to participate in committees and other activities. Office hours for students may require in-person and/or virtual effort.
