Medicinal Chemistry Faculty Opportunity

Galveston, Texas, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology currently
consists of twenty primary faculty members with varied and scientifically diverse research interests in neuropharmacology, molecular
toxicology, cancer biology and pharmacology, and chemical biology. Departmental faculty members currently serve in directorship roles in the
Center for Addiction Research, the NIEHS Center in Environmental Toxicology, the Cancer Center, and the Chemical Biology Program. An
additional nine faculty members housed in Departments other than Pharmacology and Toxicology are full members of pharmacology and toxicology
graduate program administered by the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The current federal support of our research effort ranks our
department number 26 in funding out of 94 schools of medicine.
Medicinal Chemistry Faculty –
this is a tenure-track faculty position within the department. The ideal candidate should be a motivated scientist-educator
with a dynamic research program who will provide intellectual leadership in research and complement expertise at UTMB. Faculty positions
require Ph.D., a competitive record of publications and evidence of the ability to conduct and fund an active research program. Successful
candidates will be engaged in teaching and mentoring at the graduate
and medical school level. The ability to work within a discovery
and translational science team comprised of biologists, preclinical and clinical scientists is a must. State-of-the-art space and resources
are available.
