Essential Duties
First year student experiencePlanning and implementing First Year Student Library orientation.Partner with faculty in planning and teaching First Year Preceptorial (FP) information literacy.Serve on committees and initiatives to improve the first year student experience at Knox.
Collaboration with Academic Affairs officesLiaison to Center for Teaching and Learning, Disability Support Services, TRIO and McNair programs.Liaison to the Vovis Center and Stellyes Center.
Information Literacy and InstructionLiaison to Humanities and Social Sciences departments (exact departments to be determined in consultation with other librarians).Collaborate with librarians to expand and implement information literacy programs.In collaboration with other librarians, contribute to instructional support and supplementary courses for departmental research.
AssessmentIn collaboration with the Director of the Library, develop assessment tools to demonstrate the effectiveness of library programs to increase retention and student success.Assist the Director of the Library with yearly statistical reporting including ACRL and IPEDS.
Professional DevelopmentParticipate in special projects of interest to the librarian.Engage in continuous learning about the library profession.
QualificationsRequired:Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program.Public service or teaching experience in a library; college and university experience preferred. This experience could be gained through professional library employment, other library employment, graduate assistantships, or internships. While we prefer candidates with work experience, recent or new graduates with a background in academia or academic libraries are strongly encouraged to apply.Knowledge of or demonstrated ability to learn about the library’s role in retention in higher education. Curiosity and willingness to experiment and think boldly about the direction of the library. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in providing services.Ability to sustain an affirming, creative, collaborative, and ethical work environment, fostering respect among library and campus colleagues.Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and to current trends related to academic libraries.Strong communication and presentation skills.Preferred:Experience developing information literacy instruction.Experience working with undergraduate students. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, citation management software (Zotero), Springshare Suite (Libguides, Libanswers, LibWizard, Libcal, LibStaffer).
