The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator will support school-wide efforts to create a more
inclusive and equitable community for all who work and learn within the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA).
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator will help develop and implement
initiatives promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in GSPIA, considering topics such as race, ethnicity, gender identity,
national origin, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, and political ideologies.
Incumbent will develop and share resources, best practices, and recommendations to inform policies, procedures, and programming. The
Coordinator will work with senior leadership, staff, faculty, and students to institutionalize a DEI strategy that encourages continual
learning and improvement through trainings and programming. Incumbent serves as a liaison to other Pitt offices and committees focused on
DEI efforts and education.
This position is supported by non-operating funds. Funding is committed for an initial period of three
years with the possibility of renewal.

Essential
Functions
Position requires a broad understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion topics, and a passion for supporting
DEI work and values in higher education. Excellent communication skills required to be able to interact and share ideas with various
stakeholders (staff, faculty, students, leadership). Ability to research and learn about specific considerations, best practices, and
emerging trends in the DEI field, and an understanding of how to apply best practices and recommendations within a unit. Ability to work
independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Understanding of basic data collection and analysis techniques
to be able to assess effectiveness of implemented strategies.
Physical Effort
Little physical effort
required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally. May be required to travel around
campus for meetings or events; opportunities for domestic travel for professional development likely.
