About the role:
The Customer Engagement Business Director- Oncology will be responsible for providing ongoing strategic and business planning recommendations/ plans to the VP Head of Sales, Therapeutic Area (TA) that will increase impact of our portfolio. This highly visible leadership role will be responsible for coordinating and designing the resource allocation plan through modeling an implementation for the Customer Engagement Sales Oncology. He/she will build industry leading capabilities, leveraging data and insights to drive efficiencies for Oncology. With a forward-looking lens, assess and propose innovative business / go to market models, drive business optimization & alignment. Leverage data & analytics to support and challenge the business to drive sales performance.
This unique role will be integrating sales insights and analytics across functions; and distill the most important insights and actions that drive impact and sales performance. He/she will lead preparations for critical sales performance reviews, investor relations and business reviews with various leadership teams; as well as lead cross functional team impact reviews to assess progress against KPIs that are integrated across all functions. This individual will also lead strategic core initiatives across the product/ portfolio that will have long lasting impact for patients in need of, or treated with, our products and the ideal candidate is passionate about both strategy, insights and analytics required to translate strategy to impact. This individual will play an integral role in driving excellence in execution across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead discussions with VP Head of Sales and leadership team to generate solutions that address trends in order to adapt execution at the TA level and in alignment with enterprise strategy by providing Data & Analytics.
• Provide guidance to optimize and modify programs across Customer Engagement based on performance data, customer insights, competitive activity, market event changes aligning with Integrated Marketing and Product Strategy teams.
• Lead strategic and business planning recommendations/ plans to VP Sales Head, TA
• Lead integration of complex sales data and insights from multiple functions to prioritize the most impactful actions for Sales.
• Lead preparations for impact reviews with various stakeholders across local and global landscape
• Lead creation of investor relations package and narrative for assigned TA product(s)
• Collaborate with Field Sales Operations (FSO) on design and measurement of field initiatives relating to optimizing field systems and reports.
• Lead large cross-functional strategic projects that aim to improve commercial efficiency and/or result in significant customer impact.
• Collaborate and provide guidance to optimize and modify programs across the Customer Engagement Sales, Skills & Capabilities Training, and Operations teams based on performance data, customer insights, competitive activity, and market event changes.
• Partner with the VP Head of Sales, TA and third line leadership to make informed decisions based on recommendations for Field Force in the TA.
• Utilize data and insights to set an ambitious and clear vision to communicate the value and meaningful impact in the unique TA ecosystems.
• Partner with finance, sales operations, and insights and analytics to identify criteria for, and measure resource allocation decisions.
• Work within Ethics, Risk and Compliance policies and procedures and ensure those around him/her do the same.

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $201,600 and $302,400/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Essential Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required in relevant area, MBA preferred
• 8+ years in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or healthcare consulting industry inclusive of at least 2 different types of cross-functional roles/experience
• 2+ years in project management and translation of strategy into execution
• 2+ years leading complex projects requiring cross functional and national alignment
• Analytical skills and an ability to generate insights and develop relevant action plans
• Financial acumen
• Experience leading, managing and motivating teams, with or without authority
• Location: Remote; 30-60% travel is required (based on business need)
Desirable Requirements:
• Therapeutic Area experience
• 2+ years within a consultancy group
• MBA or Health Policy Degree
• Global or Regional experience (Projects or full-time roles or temporary roles for 6 months or more)
