Purpose
To provide payroll support to University Housing and Dining (UHD) – Finance and Payroll Department. Maintain compliance with UT Austin policies and procedures. Assist in month-end reporting for all of UHD.
Responsibilities
Effectively communicates with team members, supervisors, and customers via oral and written format. Consistently displays a sense of urgency and responsiveness in identifying and addressing needs of customers, vendors, team members, and management. Displays a proactive approach to addressing change and adapts to a variety of assignments.
Effectively demonstrates knowledge of university policies and business procedures. Ensures that work reflects accuracy, neatness, thoroughness, and compliance with the position’s standard operating procedures. Uses collaborative solutions in problem-solving whenever appropriate. Remain current regarding new developments, technologies, and processes in all areas of the position’s responsibility.
Assists in approving electronic timesheets and managing timesheet changes. Ensuretimely submission and approval of electronic timesheets. Process separation tickets and leavepayouts at termination. Works with HR and UHD Supervisors to ensure that all exceptions arecorrected and timesheets are approved for timely payroll processing. Create and maintain documentation on processes related to payroll, including New Employee Orientation training. Lead and present training on payroll processes/ timekeeping policies.
Using the HR Ticket System, process all tickets related to payroll (new hires, separations, timesheet updates, etc.). Work with HR on establishing UHD policy and procedure around timekeeping and maintaining accurate employee information in HR/Payroll system, including supervisory organization and cost allocation. Apply knowledge of HR policy and procedure. Coordinate with UT Benefits regarding leave awards.
Provide backup support for the Accounting and Finance team and perform other UHD Accounting related functions as assigned. Attend meetings, act as a liaison, and provide payroll expertise as well as knowledge of UHD policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
Uses and capabilities of data processing equipment.
Related work experience.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
2 or more years of experience with processing payroll.
Customer service focused.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, including the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and be open to different perspectives.
Strong analytical and systems process analysis skills.
Results oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
Committed to continuous learning.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Experience with Workday Payroll.
University experience.

Salary Range
$49,000 + depending on qualifications

Work Shift
Monday – Friday, 7:30AM – 4:30PM. Hours and days may vary due to business needs.
