DESCRIPTION
As operator of high-end digital printing equipment, including large-format and document reproduction machinery, and using
basic principles and procedural methods of the printing industry, perform print jobs as a trained operator according to industry and
manufacturer specifications. Operate more than one machine simultaneously, as required. Perform daily maintenance and calibration of color
and black and white digital presses. Troubleshoot to determine cause and correction of printing artifacts. Participate in formal and
informal training sessions to maintain full qualification as an operator on all digital printers. Coordinate all phases of final print
requests through bindery operations.
Contact support when machines break down or are not performing according to specifications.
Communicate any and all malfunctions to the Support Technician to resolve problems that exist. Work with Support and Repair Technicians to
ensure that the digital printing press is performing optimally. Complete service call log documenting date, time and response of the service
called.
Identify, clean, scan and store digitized documents (and hardcopy files) according to department procedures and customer
requirements. Set job up for efficient production to meet customer requirements. Receive job requests and job tickets and customer files,
reviewing job details and setting files appropriately. Use MAC and/or PC based graphics applications, generate quality graphic design for
more complex design projects based on customers’ specifications. Typeset, layout, proofread and correct typographical and formatting
mistakes. Remains up to date on software and programming changes.
Provide bindery, finishing and addressing services within the
TP&DM production center. Bind and finish all ordered products including but not limited to posters, banners, signage, window and floor
graphics, booklets, books, pamphlets, circulations, newsletters, forms, letters, notices, engineering drawings, etc. Operate binding and
finishing equipment including, but not limited to folders, perfect binder, booklet maker, cutter, creaser, slitter, puncher, stitcher,
various binders, padding press and shrink wrap machine. Maintain adequate levels of all materials and supplies associated with assigned job
responsibilities at established levels or minimums. Record accurate usage counts and maintain perpetual inventory levels. Assist with
inventory counting processes to complete periodic inventory counts and audits as needed. Enter all material transactions including waste to
MIS – PrintSmith.

Annual Full Pay Range:
$33,900 – $70,052 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $16.24 – $33.55

licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the

than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when
applicable).
