As Head Patient Safety North America, you will lead the Sandoz Patient safety North America team, in line with the Sandoz Pharmacovigilance System, and associated quality system and operating model, to ensure that affiliate Pharmacovigilance is effective and compliant to protect patients, support the Sandoz business and deliver on strategic imperatives:
• Ensure oversight on North America PS organization and PV system.
• Support launches to improve the acceptance and safety of products in the market, specifically for complex products with risk minimization measures.
• Sustain products in the market by enabling commercial programs through risk appropriate and efficient safety processes and monitor the medial landscape.
• Maintain compliance in collaboration with process owners in global PS, the EU-QPPV, the strategic outsourcing partner and other functions to collectively meet regulations and reduce complexity.
Provide leadership and expertise for all regional and local pharmacovigilance staff and activities, ensuring that regional and local activities are comprehensive, well embedded in the cross-functional and global-local environment and seamlessly integrated in the end-to-end processes, that are under the leadership of global process owners.
Accountable for strategic, operational, organizational, personnel management and external representation of the Countries and Regions regional country Patient Safety teams.
On September 30, 2021, Sandoz entered into a 5-year Corporate Integrity Agreement. Certain positions will have responsibilities to support the execution and adherence to CIA obligations, CIA-related deliverables, and any relevant audit, monitoring or Independent Review Organization (IRO) remediation.
Key Responsibilities will Include, but not limited to:
Strategic management
• Leading the transformation of local activities from a conventional innovator driven model to an innovative generic and biosimilars focused model, in alignment with the overall objectives and long-term goals of the Sandoz organization.
• Driving and handling change as well as modification and adjustment of regional Countries and Regions organizational structure and processes to optimize efficiency and resource utilization.
Operational management
• Supervising the operational excellence of the affiliate network and all projects initiated, led or having contribution from North America team by working closely with Global Head Patient Safety and other PS Leadership Team members.
• Ensuring oversight on Health Authority compliance for regional country activities (incl. Pharmacovigilance activities) and participating in measures to improve/maintain compliance.
• Ensuring transparency in the PV system to develop oversight on core safety activities (safety surveillance and risk management) and development activities for local affiliates, as well as articulating the affiliate activities and responsibilities in as part of global processes.
Organizational development
• Adapting organization model to the Sandoz vision of advance drug development and enhance efficiency, productivity, and robustness of country Patient Safety operations through innovative solutions and organizational improvements.
• Planning and handling resources for the team, in alignment with Global Patient Safety Leadership team.
This opportunity is located at the Sandoz Princeton site. Preference will be given to local candidates not requiring relocation.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $245,600 and $368,400/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. Role Requirements
What you’ll bring to the role:
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
• 9+ years medical, pharmaceutical, clinical and/ or scientific research experience with at least 5 years related experience in clinical pharmacovigilance/pharmacovigilance requirements or regulatory compliance.
• Strategic and critical thinking.
• Proven experience in leading and developing at least 5 people in a globally matrixed environment.
• Leadership experience in working and leading multi-disciplinary or cross-functional team and influencing others in a globally matrix organization.
• Excellent communications, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Results driving, self-starter with proactive working style, committed and accountable, open working style also under pressure.
Preferred:
• Master’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Travel Requirements:
• Travel is expected to be around 10% (2-3 times per year).
