Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists are expected to provide health care services to veteran patients enrolled at the Fayetteville VA Coastal Healthcare System. Clinical Services generally will be needed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding Federal holidays and leave), except when providing on-call coverage. PCMHI psychiatrist will work closely with members of the Primary Care PACT Team to facilitate mental health treatment of patients in Primary Care and will accept patient warm hand-offs from PACT Team providers to initiate evaluation and treatment of psychiatric conditions and to make referrals for ancillary mental health services within the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL), such as psychological evaluation, substance abuse treatment, psychotherapy for victims of sexual and/or combat related trauma, and other conditions anticipated to respond to nonpharmacological interventions. Clinical duties will include but are not limited to performing initial psychiatric functional assessments, conducting medication management clinics, referring to other specialties or subspecialties, and providing appropriate treatment and management for general psychiatric problems on a predominantly outpatient basis. Conditions requiring specialty care will be referred to specialty clinics within the VA Healthcare System. Physicians will not refer the patient to outside providers unless reviewed for eligibility by Health Administration Staff and appropriately authorized.

Physical Requirements: The incumbent must be able to perform all activities of the position without restriction. This position may involve standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, and turning. The work may involve going up and down flights of stairs.
