A premier comprehensive community college, Oakton is 17 miles from downtown Chicago. Oakton serves the near northern suburbs of Chicago with campuses in Des Plaines and Skokie with buildings totaling over 700,000 square feet of space resting on 192 acres. These campuses serve almost 10,000 students annually that are enrolled in over 82,000 credit hours of instruction and a wide array of adult and continuing education classes. The College’s Operating Funds’ budget (Education and Operations & Maintenance Funds) for the academic year ending on June 30, 2023 amounts to $77.1 million.

Job Description:
Basic Function and Responsibility:
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) member of the President’s Council responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and assessing strategic human resources activities in support of the overall goals and objectives of the College. Responsibilities include the oversight of the College’s regulatory compliance on HR-related matters, employee recruitment and hiring, performance management, employee development and training, compensation and benefit programs, HR information and records management, and employee relations, ensuring quality HR service and support and continuous process improvement through effective management of the Human Resources team.
The CHRO understands the critical synergies between human resources, equity, diversity, and inclusion that are necessary to shape a thriving people-centered culture throughout the College and contributes to the development of equity-minded practices and policies to advance talent acquisition and retention and equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

Administrative and functional supervision is exercised over assigned administrative and professional staff.

Physical Demands:
Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on-Campus and to visit off-Campus entities. Work is performed in a general office environment and is sedentary in nature. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.
Additional Information:
Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have hybrid schedule options available after 30 working days.

Salary: Minimum: $127,218, Midpoint: $168,864, Maximum, $221,109
