Position Highlights |
A leading basic, translational, and preclinical research laboratory within the Department of Translational Neurosciences offers Postdoctoral Research Associate appointments to study brain circuitry function and its role in various paradigms of human disease. Projects include understanding the integration of fast and slow neurotransmission pertaining to neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases including mental illness, drug addiction, gut-brain comorbidity, chemobrain, and neuronal injury. Multidisciplinary techniques include in vivo photometric and single unit neurophysiology recording, optogenetics, single cell multi-omics, Fos-trap, neuropharmacology, and computational bioinformatic analysis. Successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary team within the setting of an outstanding new facility with capabilities in neurophysiology, imaging, behavioral, bioinformatic, and other advanced approaches. The position is part of well-funded research program providing the opportunity to produce high impact publications and establish a record of grant award funding. The candidate will be mentored in career development toward independent research and training to become a principal investigator. Enthusiastic applicants with experience in neurobiology, physiology, biochemistry, molecular pharmacology, or multi-omic analyses are encouraged to apply. The mission of the Translational Neurosciences Department is to leverage innovative and advanced research approaches to discover the causes of neurological and mental health disorders and translate those insights into new therapies. The Department occupies a brand new 9,000 square foot, $15 million, state of the art research space with many advanced capabilities, and is linked to a newly constructed and well-designed animal research facility. Our goal is to establish national and international impact in basic, translational, and preclinical neuroscience research. This position is eligible for visa sponsorship. * Prior experience with stereotaxic surgery on mice/rats and histology procedures is highly desirable. * Experience with in-vivo fiber photometry and mini-scope imaging, and familiarity with programming (MATLAB/Python) are a strong plus. |
