WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Finance Manager, Maui Wildfires, is an approximately 3-year position (from about August 8). The position will support the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Operation to the tragic Maui Wildfires. The Finance Manager will report to leadership in domestic Disaster Finance. The Manager will support the operation with any financial needs related to the entire operation including:
* The response phase of the operation lasting about 1-year.
* The non-congregate sheltering (NCS) financial aspects for about 1-year (within NCS Red Cross pays for survivors whose homes were destroyed to stay in hotels).
* The Manager will also support the long-term recovery program which will last 3 years from the start of the wildfire.
Financial needs of the operation that the manager will support include:
* Assisting the operation with using financial transaction tools,
* monitoring and advising on financial controls,
* monitoring the current cost of the operation and forecasting the entire cost and rebudgeting as necessary,
* reviewing and approving grants and transfers of funds to partner agencies.
The manager is expected to “get their hands dirty” with the regular finance day-to-day work and whatever is highest priority at that moment. The manager will also supervise a few finance employees (likely one or two) on Maui.
This is an on-site, work-in-person opportunity. Candidates must live on or be willing to move to the island of Maui for the full duration of the operation (approx. 3 years). Candidates must be willing to work almost completely in the office of the disaster relief operation and conduct frequent site visits. This is not a work-from-home opportunity.

Responsibilities
1. Analyze financial data related to operations, business performance, opportunities, investments, etc.
2. Manage financial analysis projects, forecasting, and statistical studies.
3. Ensure that all reports and disclosures comply with applicable governmental regulations, professional standards, and organizational policies.
4. Manage employees engaged in the preparation and distribution of periodic financial statements.
5. Responsible for managing budget.
Scope
Interpret and administer policies, process, and procedures that may affect sections and subordinate units.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. CPA preferred.
*Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Management Experience: 3 years of supervisory or management experience.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to develop project plans. Demonstrated proficiency in collaboration, facilitation, planning, problem solving, leadership. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proficiency in use of Personal Computer, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable. Ability to work on a team.
Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout the Red Cross system.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
